Maison GONTIER offers both oval and ovalized tables, and here's a quick look at the differences. The top of the oval table is a true oval, while the top of the ovalized table, also known as the "barrel" table, has a geometric shape that's not quite oval, with a slight curve on the sides.

The second difference lies in the table's belt. Oval tables are made with curved belts that follow the shape of the tabletop, whereas the ovalized table is fitted with straight belts.

This constraint of curved belts on the oval table limits the possibilities of made-to-measure, as it is difficult and very expensive to have a single pair of curved belts made to the desired size by a bender.

In contrast, the straight belts used on the ovalized table are much easier to adapt to the desired dimensions. So it's easier and less expensive to have a made-to-measure ovalized table.

For those who absolutely must have an oval top for a made-to-measure table, there's always the alternative of equipping the oval table with straight belts. Please do not hesitate to contact us.

Our oval tables are grouped into 4 collections representing different styles. In the classic style, the DIRECTOIRE collection presents carefully crafted oval tables in cherry wood with diamond and fluted edges on spindle-shaped legs adorned with clogs. The oval tables in the FLAUBERT collection can be recognized by their turned legs and beak-edged tops. The TRADITION tables offer a choice of oval and ovalized tables in a country or rustic spirit, depending on the finish chosen. Finally, the RIVE GAUCHE collection specializes in oval oak tables with saber legs in chic and charming finishes.
You can also choose a model that suits you and customize its finish with our wood stains and colors. Discover it in this color chart.
